Holbeach hospital is closing its day care service

Holbeach Hospital announced that it would no longer accept new patients in its Day Care facility. The hospital which is run by the Trust for Holbeach & East Elloe announced that while the existing day care patients could continue, the hospital would be prioritizing its reablement service. A spokesman for the hospital said that the hospital had expanded in the last one year, to cater to the changing requirement of the community in the area. He said that the hospital faced an increased demand for nursing home beds, and many NHS hospitals also faced a shortage of reablement beds. Hence to reduce the pressure on NHS hospitals, Holbeach hospital would now provide reablement beds for patients who require some assistance before they are discharged from the hospital.

To improve the day care services in the Spalding area, the charity Meadows is now accepting day care patients, who can no longer use the Holbeach Hospital service. The charity spokeswoman Liz Walmsley announced that a bus was started on Monday and received a good response.
